Welcome! I am a certified Jungian analyst in private practice, originally based in Washington state (since 1992) and now, remotely, in New York state. I am a graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute of Zurich, Switzerland and a professional member of the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association. I work with adults in long-term Jungian psychoanalysis and short-term therapy using Jungian theory and technique. I’m licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC) in the State of Washington.
Jungian analysis involves dreamwork, reference to mythological symbols and imagery, focus on the deep unconscious and individuation, but many people who initially come to see me do so because they suffer from immediate practical life-problems like depression, anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms, relationship problems, a philosophical or spiritual crisis — in other words specific problems, conflicts and issues that have made it difficult to live their lives with conscious awareness and integrity.
The following are some of the areas where I have expertise and experience in my practice:

Adult children of psychotic parent(s)
Trauma, including PTSD
Grief

Men’s Issues

Sending me an email is often the best way to contact me. Use my contact information on the Psychology Today website: www.psychologytoday.com
2. I have some questions that I need to ask before making an appointment. What should I do?
Contact me through Psychology Today. (see Question 1, above).
3. Do you accept insurance?
I no longer accept insurance. However, I will fill out a Superbill for submission to your insurance company. You will need to check with your insurance provider to see if they take Superbills.
4. How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
Therapy is a human encounter, as much about intuition and feeling as qualifications and expertise. It will be important for us to decide, in our first meeting or two, if I am the therapist who can best help you meet your therapeutic goals.
5. What days and hours are you available for appointments?
I work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There is a three hour time difference with Washington.
6. What is your definition of Jungian analysis?
Jungian analysis is a therapeutic relationship between two people, analyst and patient, and it is directed toward an investigation of the patient's unconscious, its contents and processes, in order to alleviate a psychic condition felt to be no longer tolerable because of its interferences with conscious living.
7. How do you pronounce your name and what is the origin of it?
"Kimbrough" (pronounced KIM-bro) is an old English name meaning 'royal fortress'. "Besheer" (pronounced Buh-SHEER), originally a French name, is one of several Americanized versions of "Brasseur" (meaning 'brewer').
