"Psychoanalysis cannot be considered a method of education if by education we mean the topiary art of clipping a tree into a beautiful artificial shape. But those who have a higher conception of education will prize most the method of cultivating a tree so that it fulfills to perfection its own natural conditions of growth." C.G.Jung (1875-1961)

At our core we are beings founded in emotions. Trauma and imbalance are a part of our growth, as are health and vital connections. A basic tenet of Jungian psychology is the concept of the Self (or self); that there is within us a deep psychological center, like the roots of a tree, that speaks for the whole human being, The Self works to bring about growth through the compensating avenue of the unconscious, but it needs human attention to do its work well, and this attention is the work of the therapeutic relationship.

Analytical Psychology, the official name given
to what is commonly known as Jungian psychology, is a healing discipline. It stands between the scientific and the religious, and encompasses them both. It is scientific because it is based in the empirical study of human phenomena as they relate to the study of the psyche (soul), particularly the imagery of fantasy and dreams and their symbolic value in the life process of an individual. Analytical psychology involves the religious in the sense of religion as 'linking back', linking the symbolic material of the psyche to basic, collective human instincts and symbols, which can offer the potential for insight and transformation.

Psychoanalysis is an exploration of the emotional pathways that lead to psychological growth. It is an intensive investment in extensive personal development. It is a period of devotion to the unfolding of the Self.
